Dear Golden Key Piano School Community,

Here are your major highlights form the past month and what you can look forward this month.

1. Fundraiser Recital

Our fundraiser recital went great.

We extend gratitude to all the donors to our scholarship fund and all the students who performed at the Fundraiser Recital.

We even got a surprise performance from Teacher Chenyi.

Your donations continue to help us provide quality piano lessons to a larger community and include those who need financial aid.

If you would still like to donate to the Elaine Scholarship Fund and enrich a deserving student’s music education, you can do it here.

2. Business Awards

We are excited to announce two business awards; the Best of Berkeley Awards for Music Lessons at the Berkeley Award program as well as the WCBRB Best Businesses In America 2024. We are grateful to our amazing teaching staff without whom these awards would not be possible.

We would like you to join us in celebrating our seventeenth year in a row as a recipient of the Best of Berkeley Awards for Music Lessons at the Berkeley Award program as well as the WCBRB Best Businesses In America 2024. We have now qualified for the 2024 Berkeley Business Hall of Fame.

We are most grateful to our community for elevating us to this stature over the years.

More cause for celebration as we have been selected and approved for the WCBRB Best Businesses In America 2024. This award directly translates from your contribution to our Google reviews and our community’s rating of our services and we are always grateful for your support.

3. Makeup Policy Reminder

This is a reminder that makeup lessons are only available when you let us know about your cancellation at least 48 hours prior to your unavailability. This policy enables us to use your canceled lesson time for other students’ makeup, therefore creating more time slots to make sure every student gets their makeup.

Less than 48-hour notice is not enough time to make your lesson time available for other students, therefore we will not be able to accommodate makeups with shorter notice.

Please see our 2024-25 school calendar of events here. Please mark your calendar for rehearsal dates and recitals. You can also download it here.

We would love to see you take advantage of our free monthly performance days. Performance days are informal and were designed to prepare the students for formal recitals and stage.

5. Teacher’s News

Welcome Teacher Evan

We would thrilled to welcome Teacher Evan to our esteemed team of teachers and are excited to have him contribute to our musical journeys as a whole. Evan Langley has played the Piano for thirty-three years, has a Bachelor’s in Music from Berklee College of Music in Boston, and has been teaching private lessons for twenty years. Evan is also a multi-instrumentalist and music producer, who has scored two films. He has accompanied three musicals since moving to The Bay Area this year, and currently acts as Music Director for several Improv Theatre Troupes.
